Who we are
Institut Cerdà is a private independent foundation established in 1984 as an initiative of a group of Civil Engineers in Catalonia, led by Pedro Duran Farell, to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the approval of the Cerdà Plan (for the urban development of Barcelona).
Our founding purpose is to "contribute to the promotion of innovation and the on-going revitalization of society through appropriate approaches in the field of spatial planning, environment, research, development and innovation, information technology, culture and in the various sectors of the economy" exploiting the rigor and the objectivity that our independent position allows.
The Repsol Foundation has announced the six companies that will be joining its business accelerator, the Entrepreneurs Fund. This initiative was launched eight years ago in collaboration with Institut Cerdà. It supports innovative energy projects, with the aim of enabling them to get to market as soon as possible and, in this way, to contribute to meeting the challenges of the energy transition. Those selected will receive up to 144,000 euros of financial support and also training and business advice.read more
Institut Cerdà has developed the calculation tool that provides reliable data relating fuel costs to overall container transport costs in the port area.
The tool has been developed by Institut Cerdà. It has been formally presented at the Port of Barcelona by Pere Padrosa, General Director of Transport and Mobility of the Generalitat of Catalonia; Mercè Conesa, President of the Port of Barcelona and Julián Arenas, Director of Innovation and Transport-Logistics at Institut Cerdà. The tool was launched as a result of the study "Fluctuation of the cost of fuel and the externality of time in road transport". This study, also by Institut Cerdà, analysed the different factors that affect the costs of the transport of goods by road.
