Reflections on the role of business in development of harmonious society
Respon.cat organized a business lunch for top executives attended, amongst others, by Sergi Ferrer-Salat, President of the Ferrer Group, Carlos Cabrera, General Director of Institut Cerdà and Daniel Ortiz, Director of Social Innovation at Institut Cerdà.
Ferrer spoke about companies that tend to only seek economic growth and highlighted the need to also be committed to sustainable development. The crisis of business ethics has consequences: doubts about the free enterprise system and excessive ostentation, which affect the overall reputation of employers.
Ferrer also referred to the fact that the lack of equal opportunities that result in problems for society and undermines democracy. Only if employers work ethically, striving for sustainability, will we be able to achieve a more cohesive and ethical world. What we need is more common sense, awareness and sensitivity regarding the role of the country and of society.
