76% of companies already incorporate business continuity as a strategic area

A survey of companies from different sectors conducted by Institut Cerdà’s Crisis Management Support Service has found that 76% of the companies have incorporated the concept of business continuity as a strategic area in the last decade. This compares with the fact that only 24% of them had already developed this more than ten years ago. The survey also revealed that, on average, four people within a company work on business continuity, and in 63% of cases these people are in-house staff. This is a clear indication of the consideration and consolidation of this function in companies.

More than 87 thousand families illegally occupy homes in Spain

It is currently estimated that there are more than 87,500 families, equivalent to 262,500 people, illegally occupying (squatting) homes in Spain. This situation means that up to 20% of public housing assets are effectively immobilised. According to the first study carried out on this subject by the Institut Cerdà, this illegal occupation situation has proliferated amongst groups beyond those at risk of poverty and social exclusion.

On 7th June, Jéssica Civil, a consultant at Institut Cerdà,  participated in the conference "Natural gas: New opportunities", held at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena. The event, organized by the Port Authority of Cartagena and Enagas, with the collaboration of Gasnam, raised awareness of the advantages of Vehicular Natural Gas (VNG) as a substitute for petroleum-based fuels. There are two variants of VNG: LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) and CNG (Compressed Natural Gas).

The Fund offers the possibility to support the winning projects through training and giving business and legal advice, coordinated by a team of tutors, as well as economic support between 6,000 and 12,000 euros per month, up to a maximum of 24 months.
