Into operation platform for innovation and exchange of knowledge
Institut Cerdà has presented the Platform for Innovation and Knowledge Exchange. This is a collection of best practice and a tool to help achieve the European Commission’s 2020 objectives for municipal waste management. The Platform is an initiative of the Waste Agency of Catalonia (l’Agència de Residus de Catalunya) Ecoembes and Ecovidrio.
Local authorities can make use of the innovations and good practices to make progress towards achieving the objectives. They will help them to set targets on prevention, minimization, reuse and selective waste collection, and to define the actions that will enable their achievement, the resources needed, timing and monitoring mechanisms.
The Platform was presented at the Technical Conference on Local Commitment to Improving Waste Management held at Món Sant Benet. The conference was organised in four areas: innovation, optimization and efficiency; information and communication; control, surveillance and penalisation; and taxation.
